The Anti-Corruption Bureau would like to inform the public about an ongoing phone scam involving individuals falsely impersonating officers of the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB).
The Bureau has received reports that members of the public have been contacted by individuals falsely claiming to be ACB officers. During these calls, the scammers inform victims that their bank accounts have been flagged for suspicious criminal activity. To create a sense of urgency, the scammers requested personal and bank account information specifically identity card and bank account number.
Members of the public are advised not to disclose banking or financial information over the phone. The official ACB phone numbers are published on www.acb.gov.bn and are used to contact members of the public, if calls are received from numbers other than as published and claim to be ACB officers, then the public is advised to report to the Anti-Scam Helpline, Royal Brunei Police Force at 16993. If financial or bank account information have been disclosed, members of the public are further advised to contact the financial institutions immediately.
